  • Abstract
With the advent of technological advancements particularly in the area of networking, the security of organizational networks has become more demanding. Cryptosystems are no longer only for military demands but also equally important in e-business. Regarding commercial-transactions privacy, trust, access control, electronic-payments must incorporate with confidentiality and authentication. Strong and protected infrastructure is the need of today´s channel communication. Entities especially keys are assets of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), therefore, any compromise or exposure can result into a security collapse. In this paper, a software based solution is presented to communicate securely over insecure channel by implementing hybrid approach of exploiting symmetric and asymmetric algorithms. The proposed approach is based on implementing Botan crypto library and results show that it provides better security. Moreover, bytes processed by Botan crypto library take less time as compared to openSSL tool kit. Hence, minimizing the risk of compromising keys in PKI through logical protection is also achieved.
