Abstract
Presents vibration control of bridge decks under vertical earthquake component using different control methods. An improved transfer matrix with control method is used to determine the temporal dynamic response. An optimal control algorithm is proposed to discuss active control. Passive control as a tuned mass damper (TMD) is tuned to the first dominant vertical mode and installed in the middle of the bridge. A fast Fourier transform is used to study the results in the frequency domain
