Abstract
This paper proposes a mathematical formulation for the process of protein synthesis. The goal is to mathematically describe and interpret the genetic information flow from DNA to RNA, and to protein molecules. Matrix theory is extensively utilized to represent key concepts related to DNA hybridization, RNA self-hybridization, and polarities of the amino acids. Propositions and a complete mathematical formulation for protein synthesis procedure based on the models are presented. We hope that this work could lay a mathematical foundation for introducing system and control theories into genomics.
