Abstract :
This paper looks at the challenges of using IP technologies to create a fully converged fixed and mobile network. UMTS-as it will be launched in Europe in 2002-is not optimized for TP multi-media services. We describe how IP based protocols can be used to evolve UMTS to provide personal and service mobility across a range of access networks
