Abstract :
Recent progress is overviewed on pulse-power technology and its applications. Tight focusing of ion beam was obtained by self-magnetically insulated, “Spherical Plasma Focus Diode” (SPFD). Efficient Br-ion diode was been developed with good turn-on characteristics, where insulating magnetic flux density increases with radius. Quick charging, Blumlein pulse-forming line was successfully developed using saturable amorphous cores. A new configuration of virtual cathode oscillator was proposed to achieve high-power microwave. To develop high repetition-rate excimer lasers, we successfully developed LUCE, Ludwieg charge-tube experiment, where high -speed gas flow carries away all the disturbances produced between the electrodes before the following shot. Quick preparation of thin films was carried out by ablation plasma produced by intense, pulsed, ion-beam evaporation. Characteristics of the ablation plasma was elucidated by 1-D hydrodynamic equations taking adiabatic expansion into account. Nanosize powder of aluminum has been produced using the high -density ablation plasma.
