  • Abstract
This paper examines the basic medical implant communication service (MICS) link budgets for both uplink and downlink, with some recent advances in implant antenna technology and most importantly, the nature of the in body to out of body propagation path. The paper also discusses the emerging network topology options and their impact on antenna requirements, implementation and performance assessment.
