  • Abstract
The scanning superconductivity quantum interference device (SQUID) microscope is widely used to detect and analyze weak magnetic fields above rock samples. To measure the saturation isothermal remanence curve, an extra magnetization and demagnetization system is needed. In this paper, we designed an in situ magnetization and demagnetization system that can be used in the scanning SQUID microscope. Measurement of the magnetic properties of the samples could be implemented without moving the samples manually. Magnetizing and demagnetizing fields were produced separately by activating different changeover switches to apply the corresponding power supply to the same coil. The effectiveness of this system was verified in the experiment by measuring different magnetic fields produced by this coil. Results showed that the design was reasonable and feasible.
