  • Abstract
    A novel mechanical device applied in an axial field variable flux permanent magnet synchronous machine (AFVFPMSM) is proposed in this paper, of which the structure of AFVFPMSM and mechanical device is given in detail. The operation principle of AFVFPMSM is analyzed and its flux weakening capability is studied based on mechanical dynamic simulation and finite-element analysis (FEA). Some electromagnetic characteristics including flux linkage, electromotive force, and inductions are calculated by 3-D FEA. The analysis results show that a good flux weakening ability for AFVFPMSM is obtained using the novel mechanical device.
