From the editor-in-chief September 2015

I am pleased to bring you our special issue on avionics this month. The Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society (AESS) has been finding great interest in our emerging series of special issues for the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine over the past few years. By carefully and deliberately researching and developing the integral content of these issues for the magazine, we are pleased to continue this trend. Dedicating a whole issue to a particular subject allows readers dive deeply into specific topics and reviews in terms of historical context, current applications, and ongoing research needs, as well as AESS´s engagement and professional pursuit therein.
