Abstract :
Main features of self-organized second-order nonlinear optical interactions in optical fibers are reviewed. New phenomenological theory of self-organized second-order degenerate nonlinear optical interactions in optical fibers has been developed that enables to determine the space-average /spl chi//sup (2)/ grating encoding function on the basis of experimental measurements of the light intensity and the phase of either fundamental or second-harmonic interacting output radiation.
