Abstract :
Capon´s method is widely used in the literature in array signal processing and spectral analysis. Recently, this method has been extended to the time-frequency analysis. The topic of this paper is to compare the standard spectrogram and its Capon´s counterpart, with respect to the several basic parameters: instantaneous frequency estimation, distribution concentration, and resolution of two close components. The analysis is generalized to the distributions from the Cohen class and distributions that take into account phase nonlinearity.
