Abstract :
This paper discusses the effect of different static load models on Hopf bifurcations and damping ratios of critical eigenvalues of power systems. The three most commonly used load models, i.e. constant impedance, constant current and constant power, are investigated under various system operating conditions and with different power system controllers. Some interesting observations are made regarding the damping ratio of critical modes, which may be useful for design for oscillation controls in power systems
