Abstract :
The School of Education at the University College at New Paltz, New York, has worked with area industrial technological sites to determine ways in which curriculum and pedagogy in secondary level mathematics and science must be revised to meet the needs of industry. This program is called the VISION (Vision of Industry and Schools Involved in an Ongoing Network) project. A network of area teachers has been developed, devoted to the integration of collaborative problem solving into the curriculum in mathematics and science. It is proposed through this project to demonstrate the results of this changed curriculum for other teachers and to raise the major issues surrounding the need for reform in the practices of all secondary level mathematics and science teachers.
