Abstract :
The paper discusses current directions of development in marine control systems. Correct preparation of the crew for work can be obtained via long-lasting apprenticeships at sea, or training at simulators. The presented concept and the first phase of realisation of the system for simulated steering and control of power devices have proved that realisation of the assumed didactic task is possible, preserving the conditions close to those observed in real training in automatics system maintenance, according to STCW’95. A new element, of significant importance, introduced to the presented simulation system is the use of steering, controlling, and measuring systems being in operation on real ships. Using of real marine systems will guarantee broader range of training, including manual operation of real devices.
