Abstract :
A novel capacitor free DMOS 5V voltage regulator with a maximum output transient load regulation 150mV@100KHz (load current ramp from 500uA to 50mA); 20mV load regulation and 50mV line regulation for 50mA load current is presented. The proposed voltage regulator is based on a novel error amplifier structure and an automatic switching between LDO mode and normal regulator mode in order to minimize the ground current consumption from 1.8mA for 5.5V≪Vin≪8.4V to 750uA for 8.4V ≪Vin ≪28V. The work has been done in Infineon BCD Smart Power Technology for input voltage domain between 5.5V and 28V with absolute maximum input voltage rating 40V.
