  • Abstract
The paper describes the problems connected with the mathematical modelling of squirrel-cage induction motors, of either high and small power. The most suitable mathematical model for the simulation of the dynamics and statics of this type of machine and a method for the estimation of the parameters of this model are presented. The elaborated method is versatile and enables the calculation of motor parameters on the basis of the measured static characteristics of dynamic runs. The estimation of the parameters from dynamic runs, particularly from transients of stator current during the start up of the motor, seems to be an invaluable method for operating driving systems with induction motors. The submitted verification by measurements of the described models and methods of estimation confirms the usefulness and accuracy of the proposed solutions.
