Abstract :
Numerous recent local military conflicts made it clear, that even after the ceasefire, theatre of war can still be a dangerous place for civilians. When unexploded ordnance is considered, it can be detected by traditional metal detectors, but improvised explosive devices might cause a lot of problems for such sensors, as they may be constructed with little to no metal elements. In order to detect both of aforementioned objects authors suggest using a ground penetrating radar. In the paper a stepped frequency continuous wave unit, manufactured by the authors, along with few selected measurements in laboratory and outdoor conditions were described.
