Abstract :
A dual-channel RF receiver with novel architecture is designed for GPS/Galileo/Compass in a 0.18μm CMOS process. Its two channels are capable of simultaneously receiving 2MHz or 4MHz bandwidth signals around 1.57GHz for GPS, Galileo and Compass systems. A novel IF selection and image rejection scheme enables the two channels sharing the same front-end and synthesizer. As a result, the power consumption and silicon area can be significantly reduced compared with traditional dual-channel GNSS receiver design. Simulation results show that while drawing 21mA current from a 1.8V supply, this dual-channel receiver achieves a total noise figure of 2.1dB, an image rejection of 45dB, and a maximum voltage gain of 110dB.
