Abstract :
The paper presents a simple fast-transient-response buck converter that is based on adaptive-hysteresis-controlled techniques. The advantages of the proposed converter are fast transient response, simple system design, small chip area and no requirement of slope compensation. The traditional voltage-mode controlled buck converter has a slower transient response. To solve this problem, the proposed chip has been implemented with TSMC 0.35-μm 2P4M CMOS processes, and the total chip area is 1.03 × 1.19 mm2. The maximum output current is 300 ml at an output voltage 1.8V; its fastest transient response is less than 5μs when the transient current step is 250mA, and the power maximum efficiency can be up to 94.6%.
