Abstract :
In this paper, a comprehensive cascade control method is proposed for boost pressure control of a diesel engine equipped with double-layer passage (DLP) turbocharger. Each loop of the proposed cascade boost pressure control system is composed of a feed-forward controller based on the control-oriented model and active disturbance rejection control (ADRC). The change of engine speed, fuel injection rate and boost pressure are treated as known disturbances and cancelled by the feed-forward controller, the remaining uncertainties, i.e. the unknown internal and external disturbances are estimated and mitigated in real time by ADRC. This proposed solution is compared with the PID based solution in simulation based on a well-established model. The results show significant improvements in response speed, robustness and simplicity in calibration, and parameters tuning.
