Abstract :
Conductor galloping seriously threatens the safety operation of power transmission lines, especially for the compact transmission lines with small distance between phase conductors. The conductor galloping maximum amplitude is an important parameter for transmission line inter-phase short circuit failure analysis. In this paper, a single degree freedom model is employed to analyze the relationship between the conductor galloping amplitude and its impact factors. The impacts of wind velocity, the loops of galloping and the conductor span on the galloping amplitude are then analyzed. Experimental investigation of conductor galloping is carried out on full-scale test overhead transmission lines. The observation results validated the theoretical analysis conclusions.
