Abstract
Different approaches can be seen all over the world to become renewable and independent on energy imports. One of the main focuses in research as well as politics is the integration of renewables into the electrical power system. However, there are two important questions which have to be answered on the residential customer side. Firstly, we need to know how electrification will continue by further inclusion of transportation and space heating for the residential customers. Secondly, we have to analyze the variation of loads as well as electricity demand by considering all appliances and fields of application. This is related to the customer behavior. The only constant of the behavior is the constant change. The paper shows aspects of the evolution of the electricity demand for Germany. Furthermore, it analyzes future energy efficiency gains for home appliances and derives trends for future electricity demands for the general appliances. It concludes with examples for an expansion of electrification to transportation and space heating.
