Abstract :
For initial operation of the MAX-IV and Solaris storage rings the single dipole kickers were decided to use. The pulsers which drive the magnets have the following requirements: current amplitude up to 4kA (3 GeV ring), pulse length 0.6us (1.5 GeV ring) and 3.5us (3 GeV ring), pulse amplitude stability ±0.1%, timing jitter <;+/-5ns, maximum repetition frequency 10 Hz, minimum transmission line length between pulser and magnet 13 m. The magnets have to provide uniform field with ±1% accuracy within the good field region. An IGBT based pulser allows to fulfil the requirements of high pulse to pulse amplitude and waveform stability. In the case of short pulse pulser an issue of relatively long transmission cables was resolved utilizing its resonant behavior which yield doubling of the switch current in the load. The long term stability of load current amplitude was confirmed during factory and site acceptance tests. ±0.1% precision measurements of the magnetic field waveform as well as filed mapping were carried out at special magnetic test stand.
