Abstract
Nonlinear right-left-handed transmission line structures combine the wide-bandwidth and low-loss of linear counterparts with the signal interactivity features of nonlinear devices. Experiments have shown that these nonlinear structures produce harmonic generation and parametric amplification, as well as a range of undesirable instabilities, thereby limiting their application. In this paper we describe a numerical technique, adapted from traditional methods for analysing power line transients, for investigating the time domain behaviour of nonlinear right-left-handed transmission line structures. We demonstrate validation of the transient simulation results, and observe some characteristic parameteric behaviour of an example circuit.
