Abstract
In this paper, the superformula introduced by Gielis is used as a generator of various shapes for metamaterial unit-cells. This formula has already been used to describe the complicated shapes found in nature. Some of these designs are simulated and it is shown that they are capable of providing resonances in their frequency response. The superformula has a lot of potential for creative shape designs such as multiband and compact unit-cells that can be used for advance antenna and microwave applications.
