  • Abstract
Partially open drains make up a significant feature in many Asian cities. In this paper, a mock city is modeled to mimic a selected site from a real city in the town of Kajang in Malaysia, which contains partially open drain structures. The mock city model is first built without the existence of the partially open drain structures to model a flat ground surface, and next modified to have the partially open drain structures inserted to portray the real scenario. These models are fed into a 3D ray tracing software for running numerical simulations in several transmitter-receiver (tx-rx) trajectories. The powers obtained from the simulations are subsequently compared for several scenarios when the said structures are absent and present. Our findings suggest that in a city where partially open drains are present, varying degree of difference in path gain can be expected for certain predefined tx-rx trajectories.
