Abstract
A novel coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed compact ultrawideband (UWB) microstrip antenna is proposed for ultrawideband applications. By etching a mixed slots structure on the surface of the radiating patch, the area of it was greatly reduced and the impedance bandwidth was extended. The mixed slots include two semicircle and one rectangular slots. Similarly, through etching a pair of quarter-circle slots and two pairs of mutually perpendicular rectangular slots, it improved the impedance match and minimized the proposed monopole antenna. The antenna has a very compact size of 20× 15 ×1.6mm3. Simulated results show that the proposed antenna could operate from 3.1 to 11.1 GHz for S11 ≤ -10 dB with stable radiation patterns.
