Abstract :
A pattern reconfigurable wide antenna is proposed and investigated for portable device applications to reduce the electromagnetic interaction between the antenna and human head. The proposed radiation pattern reconfigurable antenna consists of a driven element, a parasitic element and six diode switches, which are used to control the radiation pattern. The proposed antenna can be used for LTE2300 (2.305-2.4GHz), LTE2500 (2.5-2.69GHz), WLAN (2.4“2.484GHz) communication systems under a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of 2.5. The experimental results show that the specific absorption rate (SAR) can be reduced by 11.9% in comparison with the conventional antenna.
