Abstract
This paper describes a new PolSAR decomposition approach based on the coherency matrix. In the new method, random scattering model representing forests scattering mechanism is proposed. Subtracted the random scattering component, the remainder coherency matrix is further decomposed into three orthogonal scattering mechanisms: surface, 0° and 45° dihedral scatterings, respectively. Then, the orthogonality of eigenvector is used to determine the scattering model parameters. Compared to the traditional model-based decomposition, the new decomposition method not only effectively reduces the overestimation of volume scattering, but also eliminates the phenomenon of negative scattering powers.
