Abstract :
In this work our effort is to minimize the effect of shadowing and handoff failure. The paper presents an empirical path loss model modification for high-speed railway based on a log-normal shadowing viaduct Scenario. He results show that the path loss exponent is strongly dependent on viaduct height H and base station antenna height hb, and the equation of the path loss exponent can be used to determine H for specific path loss exponent and base station antenna height hb or vice versa. This work also proposes a handoff hysteresis with analyzing it, by calculating its probability of failure and number of handoffs for this modified empirical path loss model. To guarantee the best number of successful handovers, this mechanism could be determined for the calculated blocking probability for new call attempts Pba and the desirable handover failure probability Pbh.
