Optical and electrical characterization of a voltage sensor prototype for electric boards

This paper reports an optical prototype for the control of the voltage value in Medium Voltage electric boards. The optical features of the proposed solution makes this prototype potentially suitable to overcome safe limitations suffered by existing devices. Results of preliminary optical and electrical characterizations confirmed the good quality of the used sensing element and of optical components. Tests were carried out on an laboratory mock up assembled to critically evaluate possible source of measurement errors.
