Abstract :
Energy storage remains a major discussion point in the Australian energy industry. While other nations implement energy storage strategies based on pumped-hydro and distributed domestic battery energy storage, there is little incentive from either Government or the electricity supply industry to promote and implement such options. Australia has vast solar generation capacity plus other sustainable energy sources. Further utilization of this resource requires energy storage development. This is a case study investigating the role of energy storage; benchmarking its associated costs against typical Australian electrical energy time of day tariffs.
