Abstract :
The paper presents both theoretical background and practical implementation details of the electric drive test solution developed within the project CAAEEC. Because the intended application of the system is development of small BLDC-based drives for the aircraft industry, the main emphasis was placed on exceptional controllability under all working conditions. The Field-Oriented Control principles have been employed to fulfill these demands - the resulting system is able to seamlessly transition among all four quadrants of operation and its inherently precise quadrature current control allows leaving out the torque transducer when low moment of inertia is crucial.
