Abstract
Many computer algorithms have been proposed to segment the carotid artery wall in ultrasound images and produce automated or semi-automated measurement of the intima-media thickness (IMT). Automatic IMT measurement is a challenging problem due to high levels of reverberation noise, and the smaller amplitude of the signal reflected at the lumen-intima (LI) compared to the reflection at the media-adventia (MA).
