Abstract :
The focus of this work is on the Preisach hysteresis operator which has been widely used in fields such as ferromagnetics, phase transitions, filtration through porous media, and shape memory alloys. The main purpose is to incorporate discrete linear time invariant systems with discretized Preisach hysteresis output into the mixed logical dynamical (MLD) systems framework, such that the Preisach hysteresis can be included in control settings. Subsequently, an application to damage reduction is presented, where the Preisach hysteresis is used as an online fatigue damage estimator for a simplified wind turbine model. The results are evaluated for three different cases and the impact in the control effort is analyzed.
