  • Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT) has been emerging as a global Internet-based architecture connecting humans and objects at anytime and anywhere in order to facilitate the exchange of information, products, and services. To achieve this goal the precise descriptions of the objects, resources they use, and services they provide be made available in the IoT so that humans and objects can query, discover, and exchange services in the IoT. In this paper, a framework to meet these objectives is proposed. The key features of this environment are the integration of resource knowledge and “things” description in a class, creation of mini-configurations, loose coupling of the application management layer with IoT layer, and service generation and composition methods for “things” and clients external to the IoT. This framework can be specialized to any application domain, such as power grid, healthcare, and critical infrastructure monitoring.
