  • Abstract
    Recent studies have shown that oral fluid is a colloid system with complex micellar structure. The leading role in saliva formation is played by calcium phosphate and other inorganic components. Drying of saliva on a glass substrate results in formation of microcrystals which have different shape and structure depending on the state of an organism [1–2]. Crystallization of biological fluids is genetically specified process associated with the presence of certain organic and inorganic substances. Biological fluids are complex polydisperse non-cell structures with unstable bonds of components involved. By their content biological fluids are lyotropic liquid crystals. Minor changes in vital activity of an organism are manifested in changing their structural order. Elements of biological liquids respond immediately to any action of external and internal factors by change of their own structure [3]. It is found that saliva microcrystals have individual peculiarities depending on the state of a body, oral cavity tissues, nature of food and environment. It is noted that after drying saliva of a healthy person one can observe microcrystals having typical pattern of “fern leaves” or “corral branches” under a microscope.
