Abstract
In e-Health, interoperability among information systems is required in order to consolidate electronic health records. Such interoperability challenge has been tackled in well developed countries by approaches based on Health Record Banks and Software as a Service architectures. Nevertheless these approaches are difficult to adapt and deploy into the context of developing countries. That is the case of Colombia, which lacks of an integrated health system. In this paper, an architectural proposal for consolidating health records in the context of the Colombian health system is presented. To this end, a Health Catalogue Repository is introduced. It incorporates concepts such as community cloud, Health Record Banks, and Software as a Service architectures. The proposed Health Catalogue Repository is conceived to regulate the access, management, storage and secure sharing mechanisms of clinical data, by a patient self-management approach, whilst confidentiality is ensured. A set of Software as a Service, related to the Health Catalogue Repository is outlined and discussed. A qualitative analysis of the proposal, in regard to drawbacks and learned lesson from similar previous experiences, is presented.
