Abstract
A model of broadband reflection-type polarizer providing the twist-effect for the reflected linearly polarized electromagnetic wave is proposed. The polarizer consists of the metallic ground, two plane-parallel layers and a dense grid of thin conductors placed between layers. The task solution was formulated as a system of two transcendental equations which, in general, must be solved numerically. In specific case, when permeability and permittivity of the lower layer of a polarizer are set, the formulas for dispersion of permeability and permittivity of the upper layer are received in an explicit form. The actual frequency dispersion of metamaterials by model of Drude and Lorentz is considered. The frequency characteristics of the polarization scattering matrix are calculated to estimate the real parameters of the polarizer. The twist-effect was obtained in operating bandwidth from 6.0 GHz to 17.5 GHz where the level of polarization losses was less than minus 10 dB.
