Abstract
To quickly compute weapons employment zone (WEZ) of the mid-range air-to-air missiles in real-time simulation environment, a new approximating solution based on aiming error in air combat is proposed. By presetting allowable flight range and the corresponding mean speed, the aiming error from relative motion of the own ship with respect to the target aircraft during intercept is used to compute the allowable attack range, and then the employment zone is acquired by repetitive calculation for various target angles of approach. Simulation results of WEZ show this new approximating solution is feasible and real-time.
