Abstract :
Research reported in this paper focuses on technical possibilities of close range detection of human body and bodily functions by means of usage of a particular implementation of UWB low power Gaussian pulse radar. These works have been performed in frame of RADCARE project that focuses on the area of health care services for elderly people. An introduction to the principles of radar operation is given followed by radar calibration and parametrization aspects that are discussed more in depth. Temperature drift and its impact on the radar is shown. Finally, test measurement results obtained from a dedicated detection algorithm are presented. Maximum usable range in a simplified body detection scenario is found and discussed.
