  • Abstract
This paper proposes a novel strategy to obtain stable sinusoidal voltage using an AC-AC converter with high frequency AC link. The converter can regulate an unstable sinusoidal voltage to a stable sinusoidal voltage with very less harmonic distortions. The circuit uses a full bridge cycloconverter on either sides of a high frequency transformer. The use of high frequency link in this converter can also reduce the overall size. A control circuit is being designed to obtain stable sinusoidal voltage. The converter also has advantages such as high frequency galvanic isolation, bidirectional power flow and is suitable for AC-AC regulation fields of high power density and high voltage transmission ratio. The converter along with the control circuit is being designed and simulated using the PSIM software. This converter can be used in areas where high voltage surges occur in order to protect the devices for severe damages.
