  • Abstract
3D scanner can be created by many ways, one of them is triangulation method. Triangulation method can provide greater precision as precast for scanning an object with various indentations. 3D scanner for Orthodontic use triangulation method to scan dental mold. Triangulation method is applied by using a camera and a laser pointer with line pattern generator to define depth from a single image that captured by camera. After obtaining the point cloud of dental mold, a 3D model is reconstructed using 3D reconstruction to create a perfect 3D model same as the real object. 3D scanner for orthodontic is using microcontroller to control the scanning environment and controlled from Graphical User Interface (GUI) in control software. Another feature is a dental mold 3D model is integrated with patient database, box with steady and slight illumination to support scanning with great precision, user-friendly Graphic User Interface (GUI) to control the scanner environment and integrated with diagnosis software called dental smile to support dentist diagnosis.
