Abstract :
We propose and demonstrate an optical single-sideband modulation generation technique based on a silicon-on-insulator double ring weak electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) notch filter. Experimental results demonstrate optical sideband suppression of more than 29dB for high frequency signals (17-35GHz) with an achievable suppression as high as 40dB. The proposed optical notch filter was utilized to suppress the radio-frequency power degradation of in-fiber transmission of microwave signals. The measured electrical power ripple was less than ±1.5dB for RF frequency up to 30GHz.
