Abstract :
Energy-efficient transmission of battery-powered devices is becoming more important in the mobile industry to improve device communications times on a battery charge. In this paper, we present a method to maximize energy efficiency (EE) at the mobile station transmitter for a packet-based multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system. The system leverages channel state information for energy-efficient transmission with linear precoding. Methods and simulation results show that the solution of maximizing transmit energy efficiency depends on various factors such as transmit power, modulations, packet length, linear prccoding schemes and channel realizations.
