Abstract
This paper proposes and analyzes an efficient cooperative relaying selection scheme (eCoRSS) based on time division multiple access (TDMA) for military tactical multi-hop wireless networks (MTMWNs). The scheme uses a set of idle neighbors to reach a relay node, after the neighbors meet the conditions for serving as assistant nodes. The assistant nodes with a high channel quality are allowed to transmit packets preassigned to a relay node when the relay node is busy or attacked in battle fields. Hence, the relay node can easily process multiple packets during only one frame and throughput can be improved without increasing the delay time. Furthermore, due to considering the proposed method in a mobile network, a dynamic SNR threshold is defined to compare with neighbor nodes´ link SNRs and decide which node qualifies for an assistant node. The simulation results demonstrate that eCoRSS significantly outperforms conventional TDMA in performance in terms of throughput and end-to-end delay.
