Abstract :
Network operators are constantly trying to increase their capacity and coverage at minimal cost. Femtocells are low cost base stations that are deployed indoors either by home users or by network operators to increase capacity and coverage. As femtocells are randomly deployed, this causes an increase in the interference. This ultimately reduces the quality of service (QoS) and also affects the fairness of the system. In this work we try to reduce interference by proposing a power optimization algorithm that optimizes the value of the transmission power of the femto access points in a decentralized manner so that the interference with the adjacent cells and user equipment is reduced. When used with certain schedulers such as maxmin, proportional fair, and resource fair, this optimum power optimizes the average cell throughput, the peak user equipment (UE) throughput, the cell edge UE throughput, and the system fairness and efficiency.
