Abstract
Switched-capacitor power converter is based on capacitor as temporary energy storage to provide voltage or current power conversion. There are a number of circuit families and over tens of circuits are proposed. They include the voltage multiplier, fractional and inversion. It also provides voltage summation, subtraction, multi-level operation, and inverter and combined with PWM. The topic is especially interesting for topology analysis. Voltage conversion control is stable and control is simple. The efficiency is very high and soft switching topologies are also available. The recent development in this family has been biased to energy storage system, battery balancing, power distribution and LED lighting operation. Analysis of the circuit family to future power net is described.
