Abstract
Conservation and management of energy have assumed tremendous significance in the last decade, particularly in large institutions. Reducing energy bill in a large institution has become a great challenge. This paper is a case study referring to the energy audit in a boarding area of an educational institution. In India power consumption is high compared to generation. Hence this paper is a small trial on reducing the monthly energy bill of a ladies hostel. First, the total electrical equipments used in the hostel were studied and the areas where power consumption is high were noted. Thus this paper states the proposal through which the energy bill can be reduced.
