Abstract :
In order to encourage the use of electric vehicles and minimize their impacts on distribution systems, the associated infrastructure must be well planned. This work studies the allocation of electric vehicles fast charging stations in urban area based on time series analysis. The analysis considers the variation of load during the day and extends the problem to an hourly based analysis considering a whole day. The work also proposes simple rules to be considered for determining the feeder to focus the study on it. Then, metaheuristic techniques are applied to minimize the power losses caused by the installation of fast charging station. By minimizing the losses, the efficiency of distribution systems is increased, eventually allowing the utilities to offer lower prices to electric vehicles owners.
